Technicon Acoustics Expands Acoustics Lab
CONCORD, N.C.—Technicon Acoustics is pleased to announce the expansion of their acoustics lab operations through the acquisition of a complete acoustics lab facility. The new lab consists of both hemi-anechoic and reverberation chambers with attached transmission receiving rooms.
The expanded lab is located off-site at Innovation Park in Charlotte, NC. The new acoustics lab will allow Technicon to offer expanded services for customers including product development and testing, product qualification, and material performance comparison. In addition, Technicon will utilize the facility for development of new noise control materials.
The lab offers specific functionality for sound testing and product development. The hemi-anechoic chamber is constructed of sound absorbing wedges that eliminate any sound reflections off the walls and ceiling.  The reverberation chamber, constructed of reflective sound materials, will create a diffuse sound field. This allows measurement of random incidence sound absorption, and the capability to test sound power of equipment to the ISO 3741 standard. Finally, a sound transmission receiving room, located below the reverberation chamber, will test sound transmission loss of the acoustical materials tested in the reverberation chamber. The entire acoustics lab is vibration isolated from the rest of the building to achieve a stable testing environment. This complete facility will enhance Technicon's ability to test products and materials.
Tyler Keeley, President of Technicon Acoustics, states “The expansion of our acoustics lab allows us to stay on the leading-edge of sound technology. The space provides fine-tuned scientific measurements of sound, giving us greater accuracy for product development in our sound solutions.”
