Therefore, we want to offer you these 5 easy steps for applying PSA so we can ensure this product performs well for you.

The best way to test adhesives is to do the finger test.

>>> False. First, what is the finger test? The finger test is where you press your finger against the adhesive for a short period of time to determine how sticky the adhesive feels. In reality, this test is completely non-effective at measuring any properties of the adhesive. In lieu of the finger test, we recommend you allow our Quality Manager test these products using the appropriate calibrated test standards to determine tack, strength, durability and temperature resistance.

Step 1 Clean area of all dirt and residue

Some cleaners and products leave behind oil which can break down the PSA. You should make a small mixture of 50/50 isopropyl alcohol and water to clean the surface. Make sure to wipe off the surface a second time with pure water so the alcohol does not come into contact with the PSA.

Step 2 Wipe the surface dry

If the surface is wet, the PSA cannot adhere to the application area so make sure to dry the site thoroughly.

Step 3 Check the Temperature

The tack or “stickiness” of the PSA is temperature sensitive, so to get the strongest possible hold, make sure the temperature of the area and air is above 50 Degrees F. Ideally the temperature should be between 60 F and 80 F.

Step 4 Apply the PSA

To apply the PSA firm pressure must be applied to the entire part to ensure proper adhesion. It is best to use pressure rollers or pressure plates to make sure that all parts of the adhesive are firmly pressed down.

Step 5 Let it sit

After application, you should wait about 24 hours before putting the PSA and sound solution to work. This will allow the PSA to set properly and ensure a long-lasting bond.
