When absorbers cannot reduce all the noise, barriers are needed to block the sound. Flexible mass loaded vinyl (MVL) prevents sound from traveling from one area to another. This layer is typically combined with absorbers and decoupling materials to create a composite material that can absorb and block noise all in one.
